Sony VAIO VGN-NR160

When you buy a laptop these days, with 800 US dollars have multiple options. At least you can get a dual-core processor, a hard disk and comprehensive full version of Windows Vista. The VAIO VGN-NR160 Sony offers this for 830 dollars, along with a number of features that will satisfy users multimedia. With a nice design reminiscent of the new colors of the aircraft, it will be good company if you have for example a coffee Zune. Even so, you must deal with many programs preloaded and you have increase GB of RAM.
This particular version of the NR160 is called Wengé, (a tropical wood), for its brown. Sony added some textures that give a view very effective and aesthetics. These improvements were also seen in its chassis 2.5 kilos which is thin and comfortable. If you do not like the coffee, you have the choice between silver and white.
The 15-inch screen uses technology Xbrite-ECO, with this technology have a single lamp illuminating the display, which saves energy without losing the characteristic brightness of the Xbrite. The keyboard has remained the same design that Sony has been faithful recent years, however in this case the keyboard does not feel strong and the mouse buttons are very noisy, but the touch panel has a very good response.
For 830 US dollars do not have a TV tuner or a reader of Blu-ray. Yet the VGN-NR160 has four USB ports, a FireWire and a multiple card reader. Like all the portable VGN-NR160 supports wireless 802.11n. Also includes a DVD burner and a double-layer 160GB hard drive is at the average for notebooks. The operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium. However, Sony exaggerated in the number of programs included, which are mostly proprietary programs that do not serve much and if consumed a large space that could be better used.
You have the option of eliminating all these programs, but while opting, you must expand the memory of 1GB including VGN-NR160. The Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz is very good, and your performance will be better with the upgrade of memory, since the tests were slow due to low memory.
Despite the standard size of the battery, the VGN-NR160 lasted 3 hours and 35 minutes with the tests that were conducted, it is not bad for a system of less than 900 dollars.
If you opt to VGN-NR160 need two things: First, eliminate all unnecessary programs and second, buy more RAM. Even with these considerations, the VGN-NR160 is a good laptop that deserves to be on your list of potential gifts for the end of the year.
